Tickets for the Moco Museum cover all exhibitions. You only need one ticket for everything. No special exhibition tickets to additionally purchase is a nice touch.

Moco Museum Amsterdam tickets

Tickets for the Moco Museum are very popular, it is often sold out well in advance. Therefore, it is recommended to pre-purchase your ticket online in advance, with any potential pandemic restrictions this also makes sense, rather than hoping you will be able to get in on the door only to find out its full.

There are though some tickets available on the door each day, these are often sold out very quickly though, so we’ve said it before for all Amsterdam attractions, but we’ll say it again, in 2024 and beyond you really do need to plan ahead and book early.

Moco Museum ticket costs

There are a range of ticket types available and prices are reduced for less popular times and dates, so it is possible to get up to €5 off, if you are happy in an off-peak time slot and are not in Amsterdam in the peak months. Conversely, if you get a walk up ticket at the door, you’ll pay €1-2 more than booking online.

With any of the tourist cards like the I Amsterdam City Card you still need to book your date and time slot in advance. At checkout you just select your card type and then bring both to the entrance with you.

The Moco Museum Amsterdam is located in the popular Museumplein, close by to other iconic art lovers attractions, namely, Van Gogh Museum and Rijksmusem.

You can take any tram that stops near the Museumplein and walk to the Moco Museum, you can even walk to the Moco Museum from somewhere like Dam Square in around 20 minutes, so it is very easy to get to on foot or using amsterdam’s public transport. If you are coming from Amsterdam Centraal Station then tram 2 or 12 will get you near to the Moco Museum, just get off at the Van Baelestraat stop.

What is at MOCO Museum?

There are actually two Moco’s, one in Amsterdam and one in Barcelona. The museum showcases contemporary, modern and street art that is designed to reflect upon modern society. The Moco Museum in Amsterdam is housed in the Villa Alsberg, a historic building on Museumplein. This is nicely placed to make a day of it at the museums with Rijksmuseum, the famous Van Gogh Museum and Stedelijk Museum all nearby.

Moco Museum takes its name from MOdern and COtemporary and is privately owned by Lionel and Kim Logchies which makes it kind of unique, a lot of the art you’ll see is actually on loan from their network of art collectors. Moco have championed the inclusive model of making an experience that is interactive, accessible and inspiring. With 2m millions visitors and counting they are doing something right. It is one of our favourite museums in Amsterdam.

Exhibitions at MOCO Museum in Amsterdam

Banksy Laugh Now – A collection of some of the anonymous artists most famous work. Girl with balloon, Barcode, Laugh Now, Kids oN guns, Kate Moss and more. This is an opportunity to see the street artists work up close and a major draw for the whole museum.

Moco Masters – Modern day masters celebrated and showcased including Andy Warhol, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Damien Hirst, KAWS, Mark Rothko and more.

Studio Irma – This is a digital immersive art exhibition all about connection. Entitled Reflecting Forward: In search of connection there are some spectacular visual experience to be had here.

Yayoi Kusama – The art of the dot. Kusama has an iconic style and the Moco Museum has created a special setting to show off two art works in a unique space.

Moco Garden – The garden collection is constantly changing with new works added regularly, the garden is aplace to explore and interact and you may even see a giant red gummy bear too.

Coronavirus measures at Moco Museum

From 25 February 2022, new Netherland Covid rules came into effect, in practical terms from this date all rules were removed apart from face masks on public transport and rules for larger gatherings. However, some places will still recommend following guidelines to help keep Coronavirus in check. These include social distancing, hand hygiene and not visiting when you feel ill.

For Moco, buying tickets in advance is recommended. A limited amount of tickets are available to keep the museum at an occupancy level considered safer for social distancing.

Face masks are no longer mandatory in the museum, it is your personal choice.

Social distance measure of 1.5m is recommended.
